In Memory of Walid Khalidi

On 8 March 2026, Palestine lost one of its greatest historians, Professor Walid Ahmad Samih Khalidi, who passed away peacefully in Cambridge, Massachusetts, after celebrating his 100th birthday in 2025. He was not only a historian of Palestine, but one of the guardians of its memory.
For decades, Professor Khalidi devoted his life to scholarship, to preserving the history and memory of Palestine, and to safeguarding the cultural heritage of Jerusalem, including the Khalidi Library. Through his books, research, and public service, he helped ensure that the story of Palestine would be documented, preserved, and never forgotten.
This page brings together tributes from around the world in honor of his life, his work, and the legacy he leaves behind.
