Grassroots AlQuds mourns the passing of Professor Walid Khalidi, a son of Jerusalem and one of the Arab world’s leading historians, who dedicated his life to scholarship and service to his people.

Professor Khalidi played a key role in documenting Palestinian history and preserving oral history and the memory of the Nakba, especially through his well-known book “All That Remains: The Palestinian Villages Occupied and Depopulated by Israel in 1948”.
During his career, he also founded the Institute for Palestine Studies, the first independent Arab research center focused on the Palestinian cause, helping bring Palestinian scholarship to universities and international forums around the world.
May God have mercy on this great son of Palestine and Jerusalem.
May his soul rest in peace.
