Arabic Books

In addition to its holdings in manuscripts, the Library also holds some 5,000 printed books in Arabic and European (mainly French) languages, dating mostly to the nineteenth century. These have now been catalogued in the Libsys online system, and constitute an important corpus of works that sheds light on what family members in that century found to be of relevance or importance to their own cultural concerns. They include an array of some of the earliest printed versions of important classical works by authors like Ibn Khaldun, al-Muhibbi, Ibn al-Athir, Ibn Khallikan, al-Muradi, and al-Jabarti.
